Curcubita pepo
Small pumpkin with an intense taste.
This yellow patisson pumpkin is shaped like a UFO and only grows to around 20 cm tall. Unlike other pumpkins, the patisson is ripe from June and can be harvested. When young, it can be prepared like a zucchini, but cannot be stored for long due to its soft skin and must be processed quickly. It has a sweet aroma and is versatile: the patisson can either be grated raw into salads or cooked to refine soups and vegetable dishes. It does not need peeling. If the patisson is allowed to ripen until the fall, it can also be used as a decorative ornamental pumpkin.
